Letoltes The Long Walk By Stephen King Pdf Ebook

Genre : Fiction & Literature ,Books ,Crime & Thrillers

In this #1 national bestseller, “master storyteller” (Houston Chronicle) Stephen King, writing as Richard Bachman, tells the tale of the contestants of a grueling walking competition where there can only be one winner—the one that survives.

“I give my congratulations to the winner among your number, and my acknowledgements of valor to the losers.”

Against the wishes of his mother, sixteen-year-old Ray Garraty is about to compete in the annual grueling match of stamina and wits known as The Long Walk. One hundred boys must keep a steady pace of four miles per hour without ever stopping...with the winner being awarded “The Prize”—anything he wants for the rest of his life. But, as part of this national tournament that sweeps through a dystopian America year after year, there are some harsh rules that Garraty and ninety-nine others must adhere to in order to beat out the rest. There is no finish line—the winner is the last man standing. Contestants cannot receive any outside aid whatsoever. Slow down under the speed limit and you’re given a warning. Three warnings and you’re out of the game—permanently....

Best Book I’ve read

Seriously one of the best books I have ever read, some raw emotion and some of the best writing I have ever seen.

JONNYFXM

Interesting concept, poor execution

As a King fan, I have to be brutally honest: it’s not even close to his best. The Long Walk delivers in monotony and poorly developed character relations. It’s difficult to get invested in characters and even more difficult to continue reading. The plot and ending is easy enough to decipher from chapter two, and the ‘big twist’ is a two or three paragraph insertion that feels like an after thought. However, if you make it to the end of this short story turned novel, you will be highly disappointed by its climax and ending, leaving the reader unfulfilled. Read if free.

Intense!

I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. This book was a great and VERY intense read! The only thing I didn’t really understand was the ending — it left me a bit confused. I highly recommend reading this if you’re a fan of Stephen King and/or these types of books.

Snooze fest

Boring. Never gives any context as to why these boys are doing this, making it pretty meaningless. Set in distopian world, but never tells us anything about it.

Walking into a nightmare!

This is one competition no one would want to participate in! I was drawn into every page of this grueling, terrifying walk with Stephen King—and his main character, Ray Garraty. Rarely has King ever written a darker tale of horror and suspense! I’ve heard that Frank Darabont is getting ready to adapt this into a movie. Make it a good one, Mr. Darabont!

This is only my second Stephen King book and I really enjoyed it. My favorite books are mainly character driven books and this was amazing. I felt like I was right there with them. You really see them slowly going insane or giving up. The crazy thing is that there were crowds and spectators cheering the entire walk but just like the walkers, at some points you forget they’re even there. I wish we knew the back story of how the walks started. I feel like it was very realistic, especially the authenticity of the boys, all under 18, thoughts and conversations. It made me really sad for them bc they’re all just kids. None of them really realized it would be that hard, painful and frightening. Every time someone got their ticket, I would search back in the book to each all their interactions with Garraty, just so I could remember their “life”. See how they started, confident and happy, to how they ended, scared and broken. I really enjoyed the ending (if you can really enjoy something so sad). Felt really realistic. Overall, this was a really good book. I’m definitely going to read more of King’s books.

This is the first Stephan King book I have ever read. It was absolutely horrific yet an amazing read. I was hooked from start to finish. I would recommend this novel to anyone who is brave enough to take the Long Walk with Ray!

One of the best I’ve read and it definitely impacted who I was when I read it. Most of kings work is at least decent but this one takes the cake for me. Maybe it because of the time in my life that I read it but this book really changed my view on a lot of things and is a all time classic for me and I recommend it with out even a passing thought in the negative. If your a teenager or young adult I can’t recommend this book enough.

Great book.

It’s cool that King Road it as a freshman in college, and that it’s an allegory for the Vietnam war. I am surprised that a movie hasn’t been made out of it in the 40 years since its publication, also surprised that king didn’t sue the author of The Hunger Games because of their very close similarities.

I had to review this book, as I've never read such a novel that would slip into my mind during the day, as if it were a true and ongoing situation. I'd wonder during my day, where the boys (the walkers) were 'by now' and how they're doing as they walk and aren't allowed to stop. I'd find myself actually thinking about these fictional characters - all walking until only one boy is left - the winner! The only one left alive. We get to know these boys extremely well, via Stephen King's incredible writing. Good horror!

Another great but not so well known book by Stephen King/Richard Bachman!

I am surprised that a movie hasn’t been made out of it in the 40 years since its publication, also surprised that king didn’t sue the author of The Hunger Games because of their very close similarities.

One of the Best

I had to review this book, as I've never read such a novel that would slip into my mind during the day, as if it were a true and ongoing situation. I'd wonder during my day, where the boys (the walkers) were 'by now' and how they're doing as they walk and aren't allowed to stop. I'd find myself actually thinking about these fictional characters - all walking until only one boy is left - the winner! The only one left alive. We get to know these boys extremely well, via Stephen King's incredible writing. Good horror!

Seriously one of the best books I have ever read, some raw emotion and some of the best writing I have ever seen.

Overall, this was a really good book. I’m definitely going to read more of King’s books.

Horrific and Thought Provoking

This is the first Stephan King book I have ever read. It was absolutely horrific yet an amazing read. I was hooked from start to finish. I would recommend this novel to anyone who is brave enough to take the Long Walk with Ray!

Solid book

Another great but not so well known book by Stephen King/Richard Bachman!

Seriously one of the best books I have ever read, some raw emotion and some of the best writing I have ever seen.

I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. This book was a great and VERY intense read! The only thing I didn’t really understand was the ending — it left me a bit confused. I highly recommend reading this if you’re a fan of Stephen King and/or these types of books.

Horrific and Thought Provoking

This is the first Stephan King book I have ever read. It was absolutely horrific yet an amazing read. I was hooked from start to finish. I would recommend this novel to anyone who is brave enough to take the Long Walk with Ray!

Solid book

Another great but not so well known book by Stephen King/Richard Bachman!

Seriously one of the best books I have ever read, some raw emotion and some of the best writing I have ever seen.

I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. This book was a great and VERY intense read! The only thing I didn’t really understand was the ending — it left me a bit confused. I highly recommend reading this if you’re a fan of Stephen King and/or these types of books.

Darabont!

Rarely has King ever written a darker tale of horror and suspense! I’ve heard that Frank Darabont is getting ready to adapt this into a movie. Make it a good one, Mr. Darabont!

Wonderful

Wonderful book!! Read it in Highschool and could barely finish my school work bc of how drawn I was to what would happen next.

Horrific and Thought Provoking

This is the first Stephan King book I have ever read. It was absolutely horrific yet an amazing read. I was hooked from start to finish. I would recommend this novel to anyone who is brave enough to take the Long Walk with Ray!

Solid book

One of the best I’ve read and it definitely impacted who I was when I read it. Most of kings work is at least decent but this one takes the cake for me. Maybe it because of the time in my life that I read it but this book really changed my view on a lot of things and is a all time classic for me and I recommend it with out even a passing thought in the negative. If your a teenager or young adult I can’t recommend this book enough.

Good book but the end was really disappointing

Great book.

It’s cool that King Road it as a freshman in college, and that it’s an allegory for the Vietnam war. I am surprised that a movie hasn’t been made out of it in the 40 years since its publication, also surprised that king didn’t sue the author of The Hunger Games because of their very close similarities.

Another great but not so well known book by Stephen King/Richard Bachman!
